February 25, 2012, we ran in the South Mountains 17K Trail Race. After the race we hiked 1 mile from the parking lot to High Shoals Falls. For info on the trail race, check out our post, "Search for the Carolina Mountain Goat" at South Mountain State Park 2/26/2012.
This is our very first published video. We are so excited! We know we have a lot to learn, but it took us a month to get this far hahaha! We didn't edit the sound because we wanted you to be able to hear the sound of the water. We promise, no animals were harmed during the making of this video!
Happy viewing!

Transition To Trail Running
A few days ago during an email exchange with a fellow runner,
he mentioned his difficulty with transitioning from road to trail running. I can definitely relate to his frustration
and reluctance to pursue the beautiful trails in the region after he told us
about a few nasty falls and face plants he had experienced.

Mountains to Sea Trail (MST) Part 2
This portion of the MST is from Hwy 25 Hendersonville Road to Hwy 74A and is one of the most popular sections of the trail in Asheville. This section of trail is also flatter compared to other sections of the MST. But as we quickly discovered after moving to the mountains of western North Carolina, just because it's flatter, doesn't mean it's flat! It's a great section of trail, 9.6 miles out and back.

Running With Your Dog On-Leash
As the saying goes " a tired dog is a happy dog"! A good way to help your dog exercise, keep fit, and stay happy is to take your dog on a jog/run with you. If your dog has never been on a run with you before, you should start with the same simple beginning running program that any human would use. Just because a dog has four legs doesn't mean he can go out for a continuous run so mix in a little walking, sniffing and potty breaks.
